"Pandemonium" stages a crowding of hybrid presences, masks and disguises that populate the space like a carnival-like, ritual procession. Screaming ceramic heads crowned with crests, helmets covered in colourful wool and lace, hand-sewn mask-jackets with embroidered eyes and hair dripping like strands of yarn: each work is another body, built through an excess of material and colour. Woven threads cascade from the ceiling, ceramic vessels twist into organic, serpentine forms, while a ceremonial headdress on a Persian rug evokes a rite suspended between the sacred and the toy-like. Mautone accumulates fabric, wool, ceramics and found objects in a handcrafted, almost shamanic language, where manual making becomes an act of both care and exorcism. "Pandemonium" is the realm of these in-between creatures: ordered chaos, celebration and threat at once
