METAL WAVE
JOANNES LEIDENBERGERH
"Metal Wave" presents a metal sculpture with a sharp, knife-like silhouette, like a sail or a wave petrified mid-motion. Dark, opaque planes fold over one another, concealing within a lighter structure of thin bars, almost like an exposed ribcage. Viewed from different angles, the form changes radically: what appears massive and solid suddenly reveals voids and transparencies. The title suggests a wave frozen into metal, a movement stopped in time yet still perceptible in the tension of its surfaces. Leidenberger thus plays on the ambiguity between solid and hollow, shell and skeleton, in a dynamic equilibrium suspended on the pedestal
