ALIEN FABRIC LIVES

GILDA MAUTONE

In Alien Fabric Lives, textile fiber ceases to be inert matter and becomes an organism. The works of Gilda Mautone occupy the space as bio-morphic entities born from a parallel evolution: multicolored totems, ceremonial footwear of unknown civilizations, and feathered armors that seem to float in the void.

The exhibition explores the concept of "fabric" not just as an artifact, but as the skin and DNA of new life forms. Through a masterful use of weaving, layering, and accumulation, the artist transforms the mundane into the alien, inviting the viewer to reconsider the boundary between human identity and material alterity. Each sculpture is a visual heartbeat, a tactile metamorphosis that redefines the gallery space into a vibrant and mysterious ecosystem
